George McGavin is an author, television presenter and insect expert who splits his time between his on-screen exploits and academic commitments.
Having started his career in academia, studying Zoology at the University of Edinburgh, before studying for a PhD at the Natural History Museum and Imperial College, London, George decided never to leave! As an Honorary Research Associate at Oxford University in Museum of Natural History and The Department of Zoology, George spends his time venturing to tropical forests, caves and savannah in search of terrestrial arthropods; those invertebrate creepy crawlies with exoskeletons and segmented legs.
